What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files with information stored on your computer (or other device you use to access the website) when you visit a website. A cookie will typically contain the name of the site that the cookie came from, how long the cookie will be stored and a number (usually a randomly generated unique number). Cookies are used to make websites work more effectively but also to provide certain information to the owner of a website. Cookies make it possible to distinguish different users from each other, which can give each user a more personalized and positive experience of the website.
Cookies that are used on Placing’s website
There are three types of cookies on the website:
- Long-term cookies, i.e. cookies that saves a file on your device for an extended period. Long-term cookies are used, for example, with functions which describe what information is new since you last visited the site. How long the cookie remains on your device depends on the lifetime of the specific cookie and your browser settings.
- Session cookies, i.e. cookies that are temporarily stored in your devise’s memory while you are visiting a website and when you’re navigating on a page. Session cookies are used, for example, to determine what language you have chosen. When you leave a site the session cookies used are deleted.
- Third-party cookies, i.e. cookies that belong to domains other than those shown in the address bar. Third-party cookies allows for tracking of the user’s browsing history.
The table below lists the individual cookies used on our website, their purpose, what information the cookie saves, if it is a long-term cookie, a session cookie or a third-party cookie, the retention period of every cookie that is stored on the hard disk and whether the information comes from or are disclosed to third parties.

How to block and/or delete cookies
Instructions on how to delete stored cookies or change your cookie settings is specified in the browser’s help function. If you use different devices to view and access the website, you have to ensure that the browser on each device is adjusted to your preferences regarding cookies.
